Words
The Kaivalya Yoga Method is founded on compassion, equanimity, empowerment, discernment, and freedom–kaivalyam. The month we spent together was truly the most transformational month of training (and steeping and inquiring and embodying) I have ever undergone as a yoga teacher or practitioner. The breadth and depth of the material is unparalleled, because we were not asked to merely memorize anatomy or sutras–we had to put it into our bodies, minds, breath, and lives. And thus everything we learned was empowering–imparting to each individual that our lives matter. By insisting the onus was on us to make it meaningful meant that each distinct member of this inaugural training was his or herself a luminary, a sage, a guru. We weren’t relegated to the passive, subservient role that too often underlies even yoga teacher training. We were equals–something Alanna will emphasize to each blessed student again and again.
Your life and experience and unique expression is not only valuable in TKYM, it’s necessary. How else will you carry something new into the world? It must be your own, lived and embodied. And whether we were looking at ligaments or the Bhagavad Gita, learning to find and protect our voices, or steeping in the vibrations of the Nadam, we were being asked to bring forth something new, real, and honest. Because of that honesty, the equality, the passion, the devotion, the commitment, the fires of challenge and struggle, and the deep love we all nurtured over the month, everything I learned was made more powerful. With great love and devotion, and all my humble thanks for giving me a place to fall, fall apart, break apart, and let the light out….

I have four words to describe TKYM “Now, this is yoga!”
Would I recommend the TKYM? Absolutely!!
When you combine such powerful wealth of knowledge Alanna embodies, the master mind team of TKYM plus the readiness to become a teacher or simply refine your yogi self, this thing they call “magic” happens. The TKYM TT took me on the most liberating ride of my life, every day brought on challenges that delivered explosive “Ah-ha” moments. If you have a chance to experience the TKYM TT take it and enjoy the transformation, everything else has already been done….The TKYM teacher training is out of this world!! I will always be so grateful for the amaziness Alanna and my TKYM family has shared.

Many knowledgeable instructors exist in the world, but few are able to convey that knowledge in an accessible and engaging way. Alanna does it effortlessly. There is something inexplicably magical and enchanting about her teachings; they inevitably sweep you up into the world of yoga philosophy and bring you to a higher level of thinking.
Learning from Alanna didn’t just change my yoga practice, it changed my life. She is there with me in every class, inspiring me, guiding me. If you have the opportunity to practice with this absolutely incredible woman, do not pass it up!

So much of life, it seems to me, is determined by pure randomness. – Sidney Poitier
I look back on my teacher training with Alanna as one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. She has the ability to hold your attention, and to make everything fun!
Her teachings are always relatable, and I consistently walk out of her classroom feeling better about the world than I did walking in. Plus, she knows her stuff and she’s generally awesome.

My teacher training with Alanna truly was the time of my life. Now that I am a teacher myself I am forever grateful for her teachings and find myself channeling them on a daily basis. Not only did the teacher training with Alanna give me the tools to teach yoga but it also taught me HOW to teach this beautiful practice.
Alanna’s teachings are clear and concise which allow her students absorb the information with ease. She also has an amazing ability to translate these teachings so that they are accessible for the modern yogi living in our changing world. Whether you wish to teach or just expand your knowledge, Alanna will guide you on the right path.

How does one describe a teacher and an experience without cheapening it by using cliches? How does one speak articulately about something that currently isn’t in narrative form, only in swirling thoughts, feelings, and emotions? I don’t know, but I will say this: I am a better student because Alanna led me, I am a better teacher because she taught me, and I am a better person because I know her. Whatever “IT” is – Alanna has IT and I count myself lucky that I was able to learn from such a gracious and knowledgeable Master Teacher. She is a teacher’s teacher and through her voice I found my own. I love you and thank you for the best gift anyone can ever be given!

I first met Alanna in 2007, when she was the lead mentor at a month-long residential teacher training in upstate New York. I was immediately struck by her upbeat, joyful personality, and as she worked with me over the course of the month, I was increasingly impressed by the depth of her knowledge and experience – her minute understanding of the human anatomy, her intelligent vinyasa sequencing, her safe and sensitive hands-on adjustments, her grasp of the esoteric vastness of yoga philosophy – whatever she knows, she shares freely, and her unflaggingly positive vibe and genuinely constructive feedback keep me coming back for more. I have continued to work with Alanna and learn from her shining example, and she has given me not only knowledge, but the confidence to put what I’ve learned to good use. Whenever a student compliments me after class, I know I owe it all to learning from the best!

If you have the opportunity to train with Alanna, take it! Alanna has spent many years immersed in yogic studies with master teachers; practice of asana, pranayama and meditation; teaching to packed classrooms; and training teachers around the world. Her resulting expertise is immediately apparent.
Not only are those who train with Alanna in more than capable hands, but she brings spirit, fun, humor and major heart to everything that she does. Trainees will undoubtedly emerge from study with Alanna steeped in knowledge, ready to teach, and with a renewed and deepened yoga practice.
