About The Method

The Kaivalya Yoga Method focuses on the whole person and seeks to unite all aspects of one’s being through specific yogic techniques including skilled hands-on adjustments, intelligently sequenced vinyasa, Sanskrit chanting and mantra, meditation and a continuous focus on the highest aim of yoga – freedom and happiness.

The Kaivalya Yoga Method is an intensive immersion into the devotion and integration of inspired teaching. Unlike many “methods,” where the objective is to memorize and reproduce the insights and styles of another, TKYM is solely committed to the full liberation and realization of the teacher within, laying the groundwork for and calling forth authenticity, confidence, and inspiration.

Kaivalya Yoga Method Teachers are challenged to face and move through any and all limiting beliefs and behaviors that restrict their experience of and ability to share yoga. The Method inspires each individual to bring to light their authentic lived yoga. From that steady joyful place, what we share with others is so much more profound.

Kaivalya in Sanskrit, means freedom. So as the name indicates, The Kaivalya Yoga Method emphasizes the emancipatory power of yoga, empowering students to free themselves from the experiences of separateness, deficiency, and inequality. Just as yoga is not something we acquire or achieve, but rather our natural state, TKYM recognizes that great teachers are not created, but rather revealed. In short, it is a method for realizing happiness, in a modern-day context. Without dogma. Without hierarchy. With generosity, authenticity and elegant simplicity.

In the Words of Graduates

Hear from graduates of the April 2012 Kaivalya Yoga Method Training on their perspectives and opinions on what the Kaivalya Yoga Method is all about.

The Kaivalya Yoga Method is a complete and whole immersive experience into what Yoga really is. It is an opportunity to open and connect with oneself through the fear and troubles of life into the light of possibility that awaits us. TKYM is a bridge from asana to the spirit that created this practice. It’s an opportunity to take a look at one’s life in a safe and nurturing environment under a magnifying glass, and understand what is holding us back, so that we may take the courageous step of leaving it all behind, leaving our old self behind while stepping into the role of our true self, into the role of the teacher. It’s an opportunity to discard what no longer serves us, and realize that nothing is missing, that we are already! The Kaivalya Yoga Method is a truly transformational immersive yoga!
